Promises Kept on the City Council
• Approval of General Obligation bond to benefit streets, bridges and sidewalks
• Assisted in developing the Independence Economic Development Partnership supporting new projects
• Worked to update the outdated Rental Ready program
• Supported the first substantive Charter Review process in decades
• Represents the City on the Mid America Regional Council (MARC) board and with the American Public Power Association
Family Involvement
Moved to Independence with family in 1972.
Parents always involved in community – Dad served on Charter Review Committee in 1970’s and Board of Neighborhood Councils, family involved in church, school and related activities, Wife current President of Independence School Board, Community service instilled as a youth from family, in Scouts and church
Worked for City in late 80’s and early 90’s. While in the Finance Department then Finance Director Jim Harlow encouraged me to consider Masters in Public Administration – the City helped pay for this.
